Vandana Luthra Biography

Born on 12 July 1959, an Indian entrepreneur and the founder of VLCC Health care ltd, Vandana Luthra is an inspiration for most women mainly young entrepreneurs. Her company, VLCC, is known for its effective beauty products and wellness conglomerate. The company is administering in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe. In 2014 she became chairperson of the Beauty and wellness sector skills council which is a non-profitable organization, receiving support from the government of India. 

Early life and education

Born to a mechanical engineer and an ayurvedic doctor in New Delhi, Vandana drew inspiration from her mother who ran a charitable initiative by the name of- Amar Jyoti. Vandana always wanted to touch people’s lives, and hence, after completing her graduation from the Polytechnic for Women in New Delhi she went to Europe to gain expertise in beauty, food and nutrition, and skincare.

VLCC: In 1989, Vandana Luthra found a company called VLCC as a Wellness center.  Started as a small company in Safdarjung Development Area New Delhi, VLCC has now become recognized not only nationally but also internationally. Today, the company offers plenty of services like Slimming, beauty & grooming, laser, hair transplant, and many more. Currently, VLCC is one of the most leading Beauty and wellness service industry in India. With more than 5000 people including medical professional and nutrition experts and cosmetologists and beauty professionals, VLCC is now providing the service in more than 326 locations in 153 cities and 13 countries. Currently, VLCC has set up manufacturing plants in Haridwar India, and Singapore. The company creates and markets the product like skin care, body care product, and hair care. Apart from that, VLCC provides a vocational training course that is known as the VLCC Institute of Beauty & nutrition. Presently the institute has become one of the best vocational education academies in the beauty and nutrition training segment. She was elected as chairperson at BWSSC. The organization is not profitable and has a motto to teach the skills to those women with economic concerns.

In 2013, Vandana Luthra received India’s fourth-highest civilian honor Padma Shri award from President of India Pranab Mukherjee according to The Hindu.

In 2012, she got the Asian Business Leaders forum Trailblazer award.

In 2010, she won the Enterprise Asia Women Entrepreneur of the year award.

From 2011 to 2015, she got listed 50 most influential women in business in India from Fortune magazine’s annual.

She has also published two of her very own books on wellness and fitness.

Apart from being a wonderful entrepreneur, a wife, and a mother, Vandana runs a charity for the underprivileged and the specially-abled children. She helps them by providing scholarships and financial aids. She is also the VC of an NGO named Khushii which works on different projects like vocational training facility, education with midday meal facility to 3,000 children, and telemedicine centre.
